NJ State Assemblywomen Annette Quijano, Valerie Vainet Huttle, and Mila M. Jasey are primary cosponsors of proposed bill number A-3648 in the NJ Assembly. It is intended to amend the current statute of limitations on child sex abuse. The current statute gives a maximum of 2 years for child sexual assault victims to file civil charges once they’ve reached the age of 18. Legislation A-3648 would raise the age threshold to 55 for filling civil suits, or a seven-year discovery, whichever is longer.
A-3648 in the Assembly and S-477 in the Senate are the same bills.
